Hi all I have just joined the club and would like to thank Ian for his lovely welcome and kindness. I had a walk around the lakes in Sunday and I am really looking forwards to fishing regular. I have met a few of the members bank side on Sunday and everyone was welcoming and full of tips and information. I'm really looking forwards to stepping my game up a gear this year on this fabulous set of waters.

I've been fishing for 18 months mainly at Melton where I had a PB common of 19.1/2 pounds and my day record is 105lb of fish between 8.00am and 6.00pm.

I'm really looking forwards to fishing this year on a larger more challenging lake.
Any tips advice or bait suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks for reading see you on the banks.
Peter

I think I will start on grimshaws whilst getting to know the lakes and regularly walk red house to try and gage it. It will be my first Big water. Thank you

Hi Peter,

Grimshaws is nice to fish mate, plenty of nice looking fish but may struggle to beat your PB on that water although some bigger fish have graced the nets of some luck anglers. Average weight I'd say is around the 9lb mark. Loads of lovely scaley mirrors and some bigger commons, biggest Iv'e had out of probably 150 fish is a 16lb+ common.

They follow the wind on there that is for sure, zigs work good in the day and bottom at night.

Redhouse, well different story...cant say I've fished it hard although I have spent some time on the banks of that pit. Had fish to 37lb+ but its not for the faint hearted and expect some blanks along the way. Find the fish and the rewards can be massive...

Good luck
Alan
