Hi all,

My name is Gregg and I have been living near mansfield for about a year now. I have moved from East Yorkshire and have been looking for a friendly local water to join. My background is all kinds of fishing from pole through to drop shorting back on the river hull. I really like the look of your water and hopefully will be joining this week. As I work at derby college it will be extremely handy to drop by after work. I started carp fishing last year and enjoy the occasional night on the bank. Has anyone got any good tips / recommendations on what lakes to start of on as a newbie.

I would appreciate any feedback.
Kind regards

Gregg

Hi Gregg,

If it's the carp you are after and quick overnighters then you wont go far wrong with grimshaws. Follow the wind cause the fish do :-)

Opposite bank always seems to produce fish throughout the year, its not a big cast probably 70-80 yards.

Don't ignore the margin or the middle, I have done well on zigs, crusty loaf, sweetcorn and mainline cell.

Good luck

Thanks Alan,

I look forward to having a few good sessions down at the lakes
