Hello

I am new to the Club and just finding my way around the waters. I'm not much of a Carp Angler but I do like to fish for the Barbel, when the rivers are open again I will be trying very hard for a new PB. :)
I don't expect people to give up all that they know but a few hints and tips to get me started would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure where I will start come June 16th, Derwent or Trent?
Meanwhile, I have fished the T&M Canal, Grimleys and Ully Gully with modest success. However, I did catch some beautiful Rudd to 8oz at Grimleys but I was hoping for a Tench or three, it didn't happen. I need a Grimleys Tench coach too I think :P
Looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Regards
Rich

Hi ratmanryan,
I'm new member too but done quite a lot of beard chasing on the Trent from collingham to swarkestone catching some great fish upto 15lb but I wanna take my PB up to the 17lb mark and I know they've been caught 18+ on this stretch below sawley weir. Hope to see you on the banks soon

Hi Jonny

The Trent is usually a safe bet. However, I have walked the Derwent and I have found some swims that have just shouted out 'Barbel'!
I am not so sure where to start yet - we will keep an eye on the weather and the levels etcetera - it's like the weeks before Christmas when we were kids, getting all excited now

Regards
Rich
