Yesterday I had a fishing trip to Grimshaws Lake and fished peg1. A bright day with sunny spells and a south westerly wind blowing. This week I tried 1 rod using a heli set up and a spinner rig with a 15mm pineapple popup and the other rod on the bottom using a 15mm Krill & Crab boilie. The bottom rig was fished to the righthand side near the reeds along the bank and the heli setup was fished to the left and towards the middle of the lake. I had some early runs on both rigs in the morning but nothing landed on the bank .By the afternoon nothing landed so changed the heli rod for a smaller set up, banded pellet and running lead system and a Robin Red 8mm pellet. After about 10mins had a run and landed a 14lb common carp. After that I caught 5 carp ranging from 14lb down to 9lb and a 3.5lb Tench and one small skimmer bream. All fish caught on the smaller setup and fished towards the reeds on the right of the peg.
Some times small is better hi.
