Today we have electro fished Poysers Pond ( using professional contractors) and taken out 175 carp
( leaving approx 50 carp in the pond) 25 carp size 2 to 4 lbs were transferred to the Ully Gully adn 150 carp of size 5 lbs to 18 lbs were transferred into Grimshaws Lake.

All fish were in pristine condition with an equal mix of Commons and Mirrors - 15 pike were taken out of Poysers and put into the Olvers Lake. Estimated weight of fish put into Grimshaws Lake being over 1000 lb.

We all look forward to seeing these fish bending rods in the near future -

What other stocks of fish did you find in Poysers that you left there?

Indeed, were there any sign of the larger roach ? 1 1/2 lb + fish ?
Are there any plans to replace the 1000lb + of fish removed from the pond to keep the remaining fish competitive for feed ? If so what species will be stocked ?

In the electro fishing process the contractors doing this work advised that they saw large quantities of roach - bream and perch - plus a smaller quantity of Tench. The process of electro- fishing is highly effective with larger fish - so the carp were easy to see and catch - it was noted that to see smaller fish you need to be much closer to them with the electricity source but since the objective was to only remove carp and Pike this was where the concentration of effort was made.

With respect to replacement stocking we have placed an order for smaller carp for stocking in the near future - we are hopeful this order will be fulfilled but due to the high demand for stock fish this cannot be guaranteed.
