The above match was fished on the River Derwent on Sunday 9th September – the river Derwent was very low and clear. The turnout of anglers was very low with only 25 entries and only 24 of them turning up to fish. This was disappointing for a usually good open match which in 1997 attracted 110 anglers! – Where are they all – possibly fishing carp holes or the like – but then this is their choice? The results of the match are as follows: - Overall first was Pete Hamilton with 22lbs 1oz from peg 4 – (peg one being just below the weir at Wilne) Pete's catch consisted of small roach and barbell plus three big perch – two of them being over 3lb each. Second was Hayden Booth on Peg 26 (peg was 4 below the footbridge at Wilne) – Hayden caught 3 barbell and some very small roach for 18lbs 11oz – the three barbell being approx 6 lbs each. Third was Mick Nightingale with 9lbs 2oz off peg 3. Not a brilliant match but the cause for which the money was raised was very good - cash going to both derby and nottingham hospitals and ( Courtaulds ) equaling all money raised from the match and donated by the two clubs - Pride of Derby & Derbyshire County Angling Club. |
