Tribute to Alan Grimshaw – Director and Chairman of the Pride of Derby. It is with great sorrow that we make this statement that Alan Lost his unwinnable fight against a malignant brain tumour on the 10th October 2009. Alan leaves his loving wife Betty, his son Aaron and daughter Sarah and their wife’s and husbands and his five grandchildren who are all in a deep state of shock and distress at this sad time. Alan`s Funeral was held on the 26th October at Markeaton Crematorium- his funeral was attended by many of his friends and colleges and representatives from the premier angling clubs in Derby and Nottingham who held Alan in high regard for this work and friendship over the years to further the interests of angling and the facilities for anglers. Alan was a great servant and ambassador to the Pride of Derby for his 30 years as a Director and the last 21 years as the Chairman and saw though many of the changes that we are all benefitting from today.In respect and honour for the work Alan did for the Pride of Derby we are to re name the Match Lake to “Grimshaw`s Lake” with immediate effect. This will ensure that the work Alan did will be remembered for posterity |
